Superbolt Theatre present… CENTRALIA
Superbolt Theatre, is an international theatre company founded this year at the Jacques Lecoq School in Paris. There first show, Centralia, inspired by a true story from the 1960’s, is now in it’s second week at The George Tavern.Located upstairs in our Theatre space, which many of you are still yet to experience, we recommend you take the opportunity to check out a great show and our beautiful room in one go!
“In the 1960’s an underground coal fire was sparked by an accident. 20 years later the fire was still burning and the inhabitants of Centralia were forced to relocate. 4 people refused to leave. Inspired by this true story, our show looks into the lives of those individuals who chose to stay.
Using a mix of drama, dance, music, and comedy, this brave new play explores the relationships that can only be formed through this unique disaster.”
Centralia’s run will continue from Wednesday 12th October to Saturday 15th October every evening at 7.30pm at The George Tavern, 373 Commercial Road, E1 OLA

Filmed here, at The George Tavern, our Jukebox entry today comes from the genius man that is Nick Cave, with Grinderman!
Shot a few years back now, the second release from Cave’s new outfit, Grinderman, used most of the upstairs rooms at The George and we were honoured to have such a living legend within our walls.
The lyrics talk about the narrator’s frustration as he describes how he tried every trick in the book to seduce a woman and sleep with her, only to be constantly rejected. When asked during an interview whether the song had a deeper meaning, Nick Cave replied “no, it’s just about not getting any pussy.”
