LET'S GO GLOBAL-A-GO-GO: Let's go global-a-go-go at The George Tavern 6th May -

global-a-go-go:

Despite the fact that the event was open to one and all it ended up being a small and intimate happening made up of a group of Joe’s friends and family. It actually felt quite magical and old fashioned. We had The George Tavern to ourselves and we took over. Over the day we marked our territory as…

R O M A N C E take up residency at The George Tavern

After the huge success of the band’s last show at our venue, R O M A N C E have been invited to take up a 3 month residency at The George Tavern. The 3 month stint will host a series of live performances and DJ sets to celebrate the up coming release of the band’s first single, since signing to Fiction Records!

Frontman Jamie Lovatt tells us:

“Taking up this residency at The George means a lot to us. R O M A N C E’s first ever show was at the The George quite a while ago, and I used to run club nights there when I first moved to London. Now I work there, and it’s a complete privilege to be there all the time, but playing shows in such a historic venue beats that hands down.

We are releasing a double A side 7” picture disc single to tie in with our residency at The George. Dance with the Devil & Invincible will be our first release on Fiction records, to whom we signed to last year, and will be available to buy on the night at our May 4th show. The photograph on one side of the picture disc was taken in the bar by another member of staff, Ani Mijatovic, so it’s all linked together quite nicely!

We have some great support acts and DJs lined up for all of our resident dates too and we’re really looking forward to sharing all that is R O M A N C E with everybody out there! This will be a great chance for people to see us up close and personal in an intimate little venue that is steeped in history, we can’t wait! And we’ve made sure that all these shows are free so anyone can come and see what we’re all about!”

Superbolt Theatre present… CENTRALIA

Superbolt Theatre, is an international theatre company founded this year at the Jacques Lecoq School in Paris. There first show, Centralia, inspired by a true story from the 1960’s, is now in it’s second week at The George Tavern.

Located upstairs in our Theatre space, which many of you are still yet to experience, we recommend you take the opportunity to check out a great show and our beautiful room in one go!

In the 1960’s an underground coal fire was sparked by an accident. 20 years later the fire was still burning and the inhabitants of Centralia were forced to relocate. 4 people refused to leave. Inspired by this true story, our show looks into the lives of those individuals who chose to stay.

Using a mix of drama, dance, music, and comedy, this brave new play explores the relationships that can only be formed through this unique disaster.”
